SUMMARY
The Supplier Quality Engineer
position is responsible for establishing and maintaining a Supplier Quality Assurance program; i.e., providing quality support to Supply Chain, ensuring and improving the quality of received parts, and maintaining regulatory compliance. To accomplish this, the main activities of this position are to lead and/or support supplier quality system improvements, address supplier issues (SCARs), lead the Supplier Audit programs and ensure that follow up audits as well as findings and corrective actions are being identified and controls put in place to prevent reoccurrence. The role will also identify opportunities for improvement for supplier manufacturing processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Participates and makes recommendations regarding departmental plans and performs all essential duties and responsibilities within the company’s mission, vision and values. This includes partnering with Supply chain in many, if not most, of the following activities, as applicable.
Lead/support supplier changes to improve quality of products, documentation, and/or efficiency of RI, e.g. product changes, supplier changes, QMS changes, supplier process validations, SCARs, reduced Inspection programs etc.
Maintain the schedule and conducts (or supervises) supplier audits to ensure appropriate compliance and improve their processes/products and implement corrective actions to improve supplier performance metrics.
Supports new product development teams with evaluating new suppliers and/or new parts from existing suppliers.
Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities, including complaints, associated with supplier non-conformances and lead efforts to improve.
Provides engineering expertise to Quality Control regarding quality issues including vendor qualification and inspection.
Ensures suppliers understand **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. inspection techniques.
Supports quality techniques of Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education Requirements
: B.S. in Scientific Field (Preferably Engineering - Mechanical or Manufacturing related)
Experience Requirements
: Minimum of 3 years experience as a Quality or Manufacturing Engineer or equivalent in a manufacturing environment and supplier auditing experience. Medical Device experience preferred. Regulated industry experience required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to professionally communicate issues with suppliers and internal resources to bring resolution.
A good understanding of mechanical and electrical devices and their applications.
Ability to apply scientific reasoning and to develop test methodologies to resolve complex technical problems.
