SUMMARY

Iyabak Construction, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified QC Manager for various projects throughout Alaska.  

Individual will oversee and coordinate the planning, implementation, and supervision of the project quality control plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are

not

intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

Ensure that all materials, workmanship, and repairs are in full compliance of the contract, plans, and specifications and all building codes

Review and approve all submittals and perform daily inspections of the work

Prepare reports, both daily and monthly

Monitor daily progress of projects

Review company quality control and safety plan

Possess a thorough and working knowledge of the plans and specifications of work performed

Serve a liaison between contractor and government QAR representative

Review and interpret plans, blue prints, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications

Minimum 5 years combined experience as a Superintendent, Inspector, QC Manager, Project Manager or Construction Manger on marine construction projects.

College Degree in related field.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

Base access

Familiar with requirements of 29 CFR 1910

Current CQM Certificate

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training (OSHA 30-hour)

AK-CESCL

Familiar with requirements of 29 CFR 1926

Experience in hazard identifications and safety compliance.

Valid Drives License

Understanding of federal construction requirements and ability to adhere and manage.

Experience working on federal government construction projects is a requirement.

Excellent communications skills, oral and written.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Ability to take direction and follow instructions adequately.

Flexibility in required duties.

Self-motivated.

Must be able to handle stress and work in high pressure environments or under difficult conditions

Analytical and problem solving skills.

Familiarity with other PC software packages typically associated with construction.

Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task in fast paced environment.

Ability to read and/or learn to interpret drawings and specifications.

Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, as well as with customers and vendors.

Detail oriented with the ability to efficiently analyze and organize significant amounts of information regarding plan layouts, materials, and scheduling.

RMS Experience.

Preferred

Must have working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and Outlook

Working knowledge of POL and fuels related projects

Working knowledge of “UST” underground storage tank closures

Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with military personnel, management and colleagues

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This project also requires exposure to element of temperature extremes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

Job is performed in the field which can be both outside and in facilities. Some office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily an outdoor setting with some office work.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Employee will be required to supervise various projects.  They will need to be able to communicate clearly with all employees working on the job site as well as the customer.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
